What is Bad Body Odour ?

Home Remedies for Bad-Body-OdourBody odour is a general term for what happens to sweat and other skin secretions when they are acted upon by naturally occurring bacteria. Sweat or perspiration is a salty liquid, which oozes out of the pores in our skin. Normally most people tend to combat bad body odour with products like deodorants or body sprays as a solution. But it can only diminish the effects temporarily. In fact bad body odour (B.O) indicates that you're disturbed emotionally or physically.

Bad Body Odour Causes

  1. Hygiene problem; not cleaning up properly, not having proper bath or using clean clothes
  2. There are some uncommon genetic conditions that are associated with odour
  3. Obesity
  4. Warm temp not only stimulate the sweat glands but also cause bacterium to break sweet down into a sticky coating that becomes a magnet for dirt thereby causing bad body odour
  5. Bad eating pattern
  6. Tight fitting clothes / shoes also increase the likelihood of excess perspiration and body odour

Bad Body Odour Symptoms

  1. Cold or clammy hands
  2. Extreme, extended, unexplained sweating
  3. Night sweats
  4. Sweating with weight loss
  5. Anxiety

Bad Body Odour Prevention

  1. Maintain good personal hygiene by washing or showering possibly 2-3 times a day with hot water and anti-bacterial soap
  2. Wash directly after a work-out or sporting activity
  3. Shave or wax under your arms as this area is a fertile breeding ground for bacteria
  4. Wash clothing regularly in hot soapy water with a scented concentrate
  5. Avoid wearing the same clothing you wore the day before as it will retain the sweat smell
  6. Change socks and undergarments daily
  7. Wear cotton or linen clothes as they are more absorbent than synthetic fabrics
  8. Avoid wearing tight fitting clothes and rather opt for loose fitting clothes
  9. Incorporate fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains into your diet
  10. Drink lots of water to flush out toxins in the body’s system
  11. Avoid eating spicy or sharp smelling foods (such as garlic, onions, hot peppers or curries) as the odor comes through the pores
  12. Avoid drinking hot drinks such as coffee or tea

Bad Body Odour Home Remedies

  1. Carrot or Mint: Drinking Carrot (Gajar ) juice everyday or even Mint leaves ( Pudina) helps to overcome Bad Body Odour.
  2. Honey : After your bath, add a tablespoon of honey to tepid water for the final rinse. This will help keep body odour in check.
  3. Alum:Adding a teaspoon of alum to your bath water makes you smell fresh all the day.
  4. Vinegar: In summer, add a cup full of vinegar to your bath water or add a cupful of camphor oil to your bath water.
  5. Mint: Massage your back with mint oil gently. It is proved to be the best home made remedy to fight back pain.
  6. Baking soda used as a powder will absorb chemicals; therefore this will remove body odours. Use a powder puff, which has been used for talc, to apply the powder.
  7. Mint Leaves : Boil mint leaves and add the water to your bath water. Keep some aside for a special dousing for your armpits and between the thighs.
